Carlisle Fluid Technologies manufactures equipment for the supply and application of paints, coatings and sprayed materials. MSTQ was tasked with redesigning interface for the industry leading, high-end spray foam machine; a design and user experience that would make the product more desirable and prevent costly errors by the end-user.
At any given moment, the sprayer has to operate the spray foam gun while simultaneously managing the pressure and temperature of the material being pumped. Using color, spatial positioning and a clear text hierarchy, the sprayer can immediately identify the state and health of system.
The temperature, pressure and material volume—which should be carefully monitored and controlled at all times—are persistently displayed while the user is occupied with other tasks or when navigating away from the main dashboard screen.
If the pressure or temperature exceeds the safety threshold, the dial changes color to red, communicating the alarm speedily and at any distance from the UI. Soft alarms notify the user of system issues, but allow continuous spraying. For critical alarms, play button is obstructed with the alarm message—automatically shutting down the system until the critical error is resolved.
With the next generation of Carlisle devices and interfaces, the industrial brand maintains its position as the high-end choice for spray guns and equipment while reducing expensive and dangerous user errors.
